Dear Mr. Ivanov,
On behalf of Brooklyn Public Library and its patrons, I want to thank you for the wonderful concerts that your organization has provided us. The concerts with The Forte String Quartet, New York Empire Trio and the duo with you on cello and Ms. Elena Antimova on piano were successful by every measure. We welcomed nearly 400 people to the library with these programs.
Your commitment to presenting world-class chamber music helps the Library to fulfill our mission of connecting people from all walks of life with art, history, contemporary cultural events, and ideas that reflect the dynamic spirit of the people of Brooklyn.
Through its public programs, Brooklyn Public Library strives to stimulate and nourish minds, while delighting and refreshing imaginations. Your contribution has certainly moved us closer to these goals.
We deeply appreciate your efforts and thank you for working with us.

The quartet [The Forte String Quartet] attracted a sizeable audiance which responded with appreciation to the musicians. The Quartet realy got its stride with the Schostakovich and Petrova, close to their Slavic hertiage. If you present the Forte String Quartet, your audiance will enjoy an evening of the chamber music.
Sincerely,
Leslie Gensburrg

RE: IVANOV-ANTIMOVA DUO
Kalin Ivanov, cellist and Elena Antimova his accompanist captivated and enchanted the audience as they took it on a wonderful musical journey while performing at Tillett Gardens, as part of Arts Alive’s concert series. Ivanov used big, rich warm tones plus his obvious connection to and feeling for the music to express his artistic and musical prowess. Antimova’s artistry and technical skills at the piano were outstanding, as she achieved the unity and communication between instruments that was demanded throughout the program. This program marked their first open air concert and even the little creatures of the night who chirped periodically during the concert, seemingly showed their respect and appreciation for what they heard, and were silent during the pianissimo passages. It was an evening that will be long remembered.
Nathaniel Emmons said, “The highest graces of music flow from the heart” and it was obvious that Ivanov and Antimova played from their hearts. They communicated with the audience not only through the notes they played, but also through their demeanor and personalities.
As part of Arts Alive’s Student Outreach Program, Kalin and Elena conducted a workshop/concert for music students at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School and violin students from the Montessori school were invited to attend. Their love of educating youngsters and their abilities to relate to those they educate became very obvious as a bond was struck very quickly, and in musical terms, a “call and response” session was created. As an expression of thanks the school choir sang for the guest artists. What came to my mind was a quote from Dominique Ricard who said, “It is in learning music that many youthful hearts learn to love”.
Special thanks to Dr. Sharon McCollum and Ms. Jeannette A. Rhymer, principal and music chair respectively, for facilitating the workshop.
